2021 Corporate Honoree
Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. Vertex focuses on researching treatments that can have a transformative impact for patients, not just an incremental benefit, and works only on projects where its scientists have a deep understanding of the underlying cause of the disease in humans. Vertex works with leading researchers, doctors, public health experts and other collaborators who share the vision for transforming the lives of patients, their families and society. In addition to creating and developing multiple approved medicines that treat the underlying cause of cystic fibrosis (CF), Vertex has a robust pipeline of investigational small molecule medicines in other serious diseases where the team has deep insight into causal human biology, including APOL1-mediated kidney diseases.
For more than 30 years, Vertex has been tackling tough problems so people with serious diseases can lead better lives. Vertex scientists don’t see the impossible as an obstacle, they see it as a good place to start.
The health and safety of our patients, donors, and supporters are at the forefront of all of our decisions. Because we care about your safety and wellbeing, the format of this year’s Boston Countdown to a Cure event will be altered to comply with the guidelines and procedures provided from the CDC, Boston Marriott Quincy, and Massachusetts state and local health officials.
